John Daniels is a Professor in the Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences. His research spans spatial statistics, environmental statistics, robust statistical methods, and the analysis of baseball data. He has contributed extensively to both academic and applied statistical studies.
- Education: Ph.D. in Statistics (Western Michigan University, 2003), M.S. in Industrial Administration (Purdue University, 1987), B.S. in Electrical Engineering (General Motors Institute, 1984).
John Daniels focuses on spatial statistics for environmental regulatory applications, robust statistical techniques, and the pedagogy of teaching statistics. His work extends to the statistical analysis of baseball data, where he examines historical trends and strategic models.
His publications include research on arsenic in Michigan soil, robust estimators for categorical data, and baseball analytics. He has also presented at major conferences such as the Joint Meetings of the American Statistical Association and the Society of American Baseball Research (SABR).
