John D. McCorvy, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy at the Medical College of Wisconsin. His research focuses on molecular pharmacology of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), structure-based drug design, and understanding biased agonism mechanisms. He holds a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from Purdue University (2012), a postdoctoral fellowship in Pharmacology at UNC-Chapel Hill (2018), and a BA in Biochemistry/Psychology from Texas Tech University (2005).
Research interests include psychedelic drug action at serotonin GPCRs, opioid receptor signaling dynamics, and high-throughput screening technologies. He investigates pathways for designing selective GPCR drugs to treat neurological and psychiatric disorders, with a focus on compounds targeting serotonin receptors and their role in conditions like Parkinson’s disease and depression. His work integrates structural biology, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacological profiling.
Recent publications explore serotonin receptor antagonists, MDMA analogs, and structural insights into GPCR-nanobody interactions. McCorvy collaborates widely, applying computational and experimental methods to advance drug discovery and understand receptor signaling complexity.
