John Chuang is a Professor at the UC Berkeley School of Information with an affiliate appointment in EECS. He specializes in biosensory computing (e.g., brainwave authentication, wearable tech) and information policy/economics (network economics, privacy). As Co-Director of the BioSENSE Lab, he explores biosensing technologies' applications and ethical challenges. He also affiliates with CLTC (cybersecurity), BIDS (data science), and TRUST (secure tech).
Education: Ph.D./M.S. in Engineering & Public Policy (Carnegie Mellon), M.S. Electrical Engineering (Stanford), B.S. Electrical Engineering (USC, summa cum laude).
Research focuses on human-computer interaction, biometric security, and societal impacts of emerging tech. His work bridges technical innovation with policy implications, addressing ethical dimensions of biosensing and cybersecurity.
