John Chu is an Associate Professor in the School of Banking & Finance at Monash University, Australia. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Indiana University Bloomington and an M.B.A. from the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on financial economics, banking, and corporate finance, with an emphasis on capital markets, risk management, and quantitative finance. He has received the Dean’s Commendation for Excellence in Research in 2020.

John Chu’s research explores mechanisms in loan maintenance, liquidity decisions, and systemic risk in banking. His publications have been recognized with the William F. Sharpe Award and funded by the Early Career Scheme and the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong.
