John Carroll

John Carroll is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Georgia Southern University's College of Science and Mathematics. His work bridges ecological research with applied science, focusing on commercially important shellfish species to enhance coastal management and restoration efforts.

Research interests include estuarine community ecology, benthic ecology, trophic interactions, larval settlement/recruitment, seascape ecology, and restoration ecology. His lab uses clams, scallops, and oysters as model organisms to address ecological questions with practical applications.

Teaching areas encompass Marine Ecology, Invertebrate Zoology, Ecology and Evolution, and Science Communication. The lab operates in the Biological Sciences building (Statesboro campus) and contributes to coastal resilience studies through interdisciplinary approaches.
