John Beilby

Dr. John Beilby is a Clinical Associate Professor and Adjunct Professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Western Australia (UWA), affiliated with the Centre for Genetic Origins of Health and Diseases. He holds advanced credentials including FAACB, MHGSA, and FFSc(RCPA) fellowships. Previously, he served as Head of the Diagnostic Genomics Laboratory at PathWest and held leadership roles in research committees such as the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Research Advisory Committee and the NHMRC Research Translation Faculty.

• Education: BSc(Hons) and PhD from UWA
• Research Focus: Genomics and environmental factors in complex diseases (ageing, cardiovascular disease, diabetes), biomarker discovery, and clinical biochemistry applications.

His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being. Notable achievements include highly cited papers (2011-2017) and leadership in major grants like the Busselton Family Heart Study. He currently focuses on research post-retirement from full-time clinical work.

Key projects include lipidomic profiling of metabolic disorders, pharmacogenomic cancer treatment optimization (MiSSK), and studying sex hormones' role in biological ageing. His grants span cardiovascular risk prediction, autism genetics, and lipoprotein(a) research.
