Dr. John Bailey is an Associate Teaching Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), specializing in Anatomical Sciences, Cell & Molecular Physiology, and Exercise Physiology. He holds a PhD in Human Exercise Physiology from USM (1990), an MS in Anthropology from USM (1985), and a BS in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi (1982). His career includes tenure at Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine (1998–2009) and a role as a founding faculty member at the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Bailey has received prestigious teaching awards, including the Carl J. Norden/Pfizer Award (2000, 2004) and the Dean’s Pegasus Award (2002). His research spans cellular metabolism, cancer biology, and comparative physiology, with notable contributions to drug development for chemotherapeutic-resistant cancers. He has authored textbooks, journal articles, and chapters in Duke’s Physiology of Domestic Animals.
