Professor John Ashton holds the position of Professor of Financial Regulation at the University of York's School for Business and Society, a role he has held since December 2021. Prior to this, he taught banking, finance, and related subjects at institutions including the University of Leeds, University of East Anglia, Bangor University, and Bournemouth University since 1993. His research focuses on financial and economic regulation, particularly in banking, insurance, and utility markets, with recent emphasis on pricing transparency and regulatory improvement in financial markets.
