John Almandoz

John Almandoz is a Professor and Juan Antonio Perez Lopez Chair in the Department of Managing People in Organizations at IESE Business School, part of the University of Navarra, Spain. He holds a joint PhD in Organizational Behavior and an MA in Sociology from Harvard Business School/Harvard University, an MBA from Southern Methodist University, and a BA in Economics from the University of Dallas.

His research focuses on entrepreneurship, institutions, and top management teams, with a recent emphasis on aligning corporate purpose frameworks with the mission of Catholic universities. He explores how Catholic identity integrates faith, reason, moral formation, and societal engagement in addressing challenges like climate change, inequality, and technology ethics. His work draws on Vatican teachings, emphasizing dialogue with non-Catholic perspectives while preserving Catholic values.

Almandoz teaches leadership and organizational behavior in MBA, Executive MBA, and Global Executive MBA programs. He advocates for purpose-driven management, fostering synergies between personal and organizational goals. He is a reviewer for the Academy of Management Journal and Administrative Science Quarterly and participates in academic associations including the Academy of Management and European Group of Organizational Studies.

He emphasizes practical implementation of purpose through mentorship, interdisciplinary collaboration, and alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals. His research bridges theoretical corporate purpose models with the unique identity and mission of Catholic educational institutions, promoting their role as ethical and intellectual leaders.
