معرفی
John Allison is the William F. Hosford Collegiate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan, with a career spanning academia and industry. He holds formal affiliations with the College of Engineering and actively teaches courses such as MSE577 Failure Analysis of Materials.
- B.S. in Engineering Mechanics, U.S. Air Force Academy, 1972
- M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering, Ohio State University, 1977
- Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, Carnegie-Mellon University, 1982
His research focuses on the interplay between processing, alloying, microstructure, and properties in metallic materials. He specializes in developing Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) tools, collaborating with computational and experimental groups to advance mechanistic understanding of microstructure evolution (e.g., precipitate dynamics, recrystallization, texture development) in magnesium, aluminum, and titanium alloys. His work also addresses mechanical behavior, emphasizing strength, ductility, and fatigue resistance.
John Allison’s achievements include election to the National Academy of Engineering (2011), TMS Fellow (2014), and multiple awards for technical excellence and leadership. He has mentored a diverse group of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
