John Alexander Marenbon

John Alexander Marenbon is a Professor at the Faculty of Theology of Lugano (Facoltà di Teologia di Lugano) at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). He is also an Honorary Professor of Medieval Philosophy at the University of Cambridge and a Senior Research Fellow at Trinity College Cambridge. His research spans philosophy in the Long Middle Ages (c. 200 – c. 1700) across Latin and Greek Christian, Islamic, and Jewish traditions.

He led the joint project 'Immateriality, Thinking and the Self in the Philosophy of the Long Middle Ages' (2015–2016), funded by the British Academy. His work bridges interdisciplinary philosophical and theological inquiries, emphasizing cross-cultural dialogues in medieval thought.
