A developmental biologist with expertise in evolutionary developmental biology (Evo-Devo) and gene/genome evolution, Abramyan investigates vertebrate facial embryology using molecular biology, genomics, and embryology. His research focuses on two main areas: (1) embryonic development of the mouth and nose, and (2) molecular evolution of tooth-specific genes. His work spans diverse organisms including axolotls, true toads, and avian models.
Recent publications highlight his contributions to understanding choana evolution, tooth gene pseudogenization, avian nasal development, and craniofacial-ocular integration. These studies demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches combining embryology, comparative anatomy, and molecular genetics to explore evolutionary developmental mechanisms.
