Johannes Wegener is a doctoral researcher and academic staff member at the Department of Ancient History (Althistorisches Seminar) at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tanja Scheer. He will serve as a PartTime Lecturer at the Chair of Ancient History (Prof. Dr. Johannes Wienand), Institute of Historical Sciences, TU Braunschweig, starting in the summer semester of 2025.

Research Focus: Wegener investigates cultural and social history of Greco-Roman antiquity, emphasizing political culture, religious history, ancient memory practices, and historiography. His work also explores monarchical representation in Hellenism and the Roman Empire, alongside didactic methods for teaching antiquity.
