معرفی
Johannes Kern is a Researcher at the Chair of Operations Management within the School of Business and Economics at RWTH Aachen University, where he has worked since January 2023. His role integrates research on sustainable biochar applications with teaching responsibilities in Production and Logistics.
His research focuses on sustainable biochar value chains, GIS-based geographical analyses, and biochar's impact on soil structures. This interdisciplinary work bridges environmental science, agriculture, and operations management to develop geospatial assessment tools and supply chain optimization models for sustainable agricultural systems.
Kern's publications reveal a concentrated trend toward global geospatial evaluation of biochar's agricultural potential, particularly its effects on crop yields and soil health. His 2024 Journal of Environmental Management article and conference presentations demonstrate evolving emphasis on carbon sequestration applications and scalability in Global South contexts.
He actively supervises student theses on biomass flow analysis and biochar supply chain design. His research is funded through:
- NewBIAS: New Biochars for Agricultural Soil Improvement (Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia)
- EnArgus3.0: AI-Supported Energy Research Systems (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action)
