Johanne Lamoureux is a Full Professor at the Université de Montréal's Department of Art History, Cinema, and Audiovisual Media within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She holds the Canada Research Chair in Citizen Museology since 2019 and previously directed the department (2003–2007). Her research focuses on exhibition rhetoric, museology, and the post-humanist turn in art history, particularly exploring meat symbolism and abattoir dispositifs in 19th-century cultural production. Lamoureux co-founded the CIÉ/CO research group and has led major projects like the CRSH-funded 'Des nouveaux usages des collections dans les musées d'art' (2021–2029). She served as director of the INHA's Department of Studies and Research in Paris (2014–2017) and curated notable exhibitions at Canadian museums. Her awards include membership in the Royal Society of Canada (2007) and teaching excellence prizes (1999, 2000). She supervises graduate students in art history and museum studies, guiding over 20 theses since 2001.
