Johan Bijnens is a Professor and Deputy Head of Division in the Department of Physics at Lund University, within the Faculty of Science. His primary research focuses on theoretical particle physics, nuclear physics, general relativity, and cosmology. He has advised numerous students at undergraduate, master's, and PhD levels, contributing significantly to advancing knowledge in these fields.
His research interests include chiral perturbation theory, hadronic light-by-light contributions to the muon g-2, and QCD phenomenology. He has authored/co-authored over 200 publications, with recent works addressing short-distance constraints in hadronic contributions to the muon's anomalous magnetic moment and three-pion scattering dynamics using chiral Lagrangians.
Notable contributions include global fits of low-energy constants in chiral perturbation theory and collaborations on lattice QCD calculations. He has also been involved in experimental initiatives like the European Spallation Source, bridging theoretical and experimental particle physics.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on general relativity at the undergraduate level. His work has been presented at major conferences such as Kaons@CERN and workshops on chiral perturbation theory.
