Johan Alme is a Professor of Microelectronics at the Department of Physics and Technology, University of Bergen. He leads research on instrumentation for the ALICE experiment at CERN, focusing on detector design for the Forward Calorimeter (FoCal) and Inner Tracking System (ITS3). As program chair in physics, he drives curriculum reforms integrating programming into bachelor's courses and oversees initiatives like the Physics Room for active learning. He coordinates the UiB-led Proton CT project, developing medical imaging technology using CERN-derived sensors. As NORLHC-II project leader, he manages Norwegian contributions to CERN's detector and computing infrastructure.
