Joelle Saad-Lessler is an Industry Professor & Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies at the School of Business, Stevens Institute of Technology. Her academic background includes a PhD (2003) and MA (1996) in Economics from Columbia University, and a BA (1994) from Columbia College.
Her research focuses on Economics of Retirement, Labor Economics, and Economics of Immigration. She has held roles including Associate Dean (2019–present) and Industry Professor (2023–present), with prior experience as an Assistant Professor at Long Island University (2001–2012) and Research Economist at The New School (2010–2016).
She is actively involved in institutional governance, serving on over 30 committees at Stevens, including accreditation steering, curriculum oversight, and diversity initiatives. Her professional service includes roles with the Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) and the American Economic Association (AEA).
Her grants include funding from the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) and the Upjohn Institute, focusing on retirement savings resilience and generational financial challenges.
