معرفی
Joel Simard is a Researcher at Imperial College London's Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, part of the Control and Power (CAP) Research Group within the Faculty of Engineering. He holds a B.A.Sc. (2016), M.A.Sc. (2018) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and a Ph.D. in Nonlinear Control Theory from Imperial College London (2023). His research focuses on interpolation, model reduction, and stabilization techniques for linear/nonlinear differential-algebraic systems, emphasizing models with desirable properties. He has been a Research Associate since May 2023 and previously a Research Assistant (April 2022–April 2023).
His work spans
- Loewner framework applications in model reduction,
- nonlinear system analysis,
- port-Hamiltonian systems,
- stabilization of LPV systems, and
- data-driven methods for network systems.
Simard received the Eryl Cadwallader Davies Prize (2024) for outstanding doctoral contributions in electrical and electronic engineering. His research integrates control theory, applied mathematics, and systems engineering to advance model simplification and system stability in complex engineering contexts.
