Joel Quamme is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at Grand Valley State University. His research focuses on human memory, particularly the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying recognition decisions through familiarity and recollection.
- Education: B.A. from Jamestown College, M.A. and Ph.D. from University of California, Davis
Courses Taught: PSY 101 - Introductory Psychology, PSY 365 - Cognition, PSY 370 - Cognitive Neuroscience.
Research Interests: Dr. Quamme investigates how people use general familiarity versus specific recollection when making recognition decisions, with a focus on neural correlates, event boundaries, and associative memory in narrative contexts.
Recent Publications: His work explores memory decision-making, the impact of event boundaries on associative recognition, and differences in recollection and familiarity among older adults.
