معرفی
Joel Moreira is an Associate Professor in the Mathematics Institute at the University of Warwick, part of the Faculty of Science. His research focuses on ergodic theory, topological dynamics, and their applications to Ramsey theory, additive combinatorics, and number theory. He holds a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University (2016) and a B.S. from the University of Coimbra (2009). His work bridges dynamical systems with number theory, yielding significant results such as proving Erdős’s sumset conjectures and advancing partition regularity theory.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Ohio State University (2016), Advisor: Vitaly Bergelson
- B.S. (Distinction) in Mathematics, University of Coimbra (2009)
Research Interests: His studies emphasize ergodic Ramsey theory, multiple recurrence, and the interplay between dynamical systems and combinatorics. Notable contributions include density sumset theorems and the partition regularity of Pythagorean pairs.
Awards: Recipient of the 2025 Frontiers of Science Award (twice), 2020 Michael Brin Prize, and fellowships from Ohio State and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Grants: Current ERC Starting Grant and NSF support for dynamical approaches to number theory and combinatorics. Previous grants include NSF DMS-1700147 (2017–2020).
Labs/Teams: Active in organizing conferences and seminars, including the Warwick Ergodic Theory and Dynamics Seminar, and co-organizing events like NU Trends in Ergodic Theory. Collaborates extensively on projects involving fractal transversality and multicorrelation sequences.
