Joel Maddock-James

Joel Maddock-James is a Lecturer in Sociology and Criminology at York St John University's School of Humanities. His research examines the socio-spatial dynamics of commercial logistics networks, particularly Amazon's expansion in post-industrial regions.

His approach combines theories of platform capitalism with landscape urbanism to analyze how e-commerce logistics reshape geographical spaces and labor practices. Teaching focuses on spatial sociology, political economy, and mobilities studies, including courses on technologies of consumption and workplace automation.
