Joel Fuller is a Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University's Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences, within the Department of Health Sciences. He holds dual qualifications as a physiotherapist and Level 2 sports scientist. His research focuses on injury prevention, performance optimization in sports, and translating applied research into practical applications.
Key projects include ANZBACK (swimming for low back pain) and wearable technology for athlete monitoring. He has supervised Honours, Masters, and PhD students and is a Macquarie HDR Supervision Associate Fellow.
Research interests span biomechanics of running, injury epidemiology, and wearable sensor applications. Recent work includes developing injury surveillance systems for dancers and analyzing dietary impacts on running injuries.
He has received multiple awards, including the Australian Awards for University Teaching (2022) and Fulbright Scholarship (2015). His international collaborations and innovative teaching methods highlight his commitment to education and applied science.
