معرفی
Joel Clinton Glover is a Professor at the University of Oslo, affiliated with the Department of Physiology and the Faculty of Medicine. He also serves as Adjunct Professor at the Sars International Centre for Marine Molecular Biology and Director of the Norwegian Center for Stem Cell Research. His research focuses on neural development, stem cell biology, and evolutionary neurobiology, with particular interest in motor systems, spinal cord injury, and marine organisms like tunicates.
Education and Background: B.A. in Biology (UC San Diego, 1978), Ph.D. in Neuroscience (UC Berkeley, 1984). Postdoctoral fellowships at University of Oslo, Washington University, and further research roles in Oslo. Academic roles include Associate Professor (1994–1996) and Professor (2001–present) in the Department of Physiology.
Research Interests: Glover studies the development and evolution of neural networks, particularly in motor systems and spinal cord injury recovery. His work integrates neurophysiology, optogenetics, and embryology, with contributions to stem cell research ethics and marine model organisms like Oikopleura dioica.
Publications Overview: His 15 most recent articles (2020–2025) span topics including calcium signaling in tunicates, stem cell governance ethics, and molecular mechanisms in hindbrain development. These reflect his interdisciplinary approach, bridging basic neuroscience, evolutionary biology, and clinical applications.
- Awards: Norwegian Academy of Science member (2007), Best Lecturer (1998), Vickers Lecturer (1995).
- Labs/Teams: Leads the Norwegian Center for Stem Cell Research and collaborates with marine biology teams studying Oikopleura.
