Joel Carr

Joel Carr serves as Associate Professor and Director of the Doctor of Social Work (DSW) program within the Department of Social Work and Sociology at Angelo State University. He holds triple licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor (LCSW-S), Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S), and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), reflecting his clinical expertise across mental health and addiction domains.

His research focuses on clinical social work practice, counseling psychology frameworks, and evidence-based interventions for substance abuse disorders. With supervisory credentials in both social work and counseling, he integrates clinical training with academic leadership in graduate social work education, particularly through the DSW program he directs.

Dr. Carr contributes to university governance as a Faculty Senator and maintains an active clinical practice presence through his supervisory licenses, bridging academic theory with real-world therapeutic applications in the Health and Human Services Building where he maintains office 318P.
