Joe Stabile

Joe Stabile is an Instructor in the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). He holds a BS in Engineering Physics (University of Arizona, 1976), an MS in Mechanical Engineering (University of Arizona, 1982), and an MS in Electrical Engineering (University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, 1998).

With 36 years of industry experience, Stabile has worked in product development across computer storage systems (e.g., hard drives, tape storage) and advanced audio technologies at Bose Corporation. His research focuses on high-efficiency small speaker systems, including magnetic motor design, acoustic structural modeling, and planar array technologies. He emphasizes applying industrial insights to classroom instruction, particularly in mechanical engineering fundamentals.

Professional highlights include a 2017 Kalenian Award win by a WPI graduate researcher under his mentorship.
