Joe Shellhammer serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Wichita State University's Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He teaches Introductory Microbiology and Human Anatomy and Physiology courses while leading MCAT Biology Prep Sessions for pre-medical students.
His teaching expertise includes:

Dr. Shellhammer occasionally instructs Physics laboratories. Outside academia, he restores classic automobiles—including his father's 1965 Ford Galaxie 500—and is a devoted Texas Rangers baseball fan. All three of his children are named after Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan.
