Joe Guinness

Joe Guinness is an Associate Professor of Statistics and Data Science at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU), serving as Co-Director of Undergraduate Studies in the SDS department. He holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Chicago (2012) and a dual A.B. in Mathematics and Physics from WashU (2007). His research focuses on spatial-temporal data analysis, particularly in Earth Sciences, with contributions to spectral methods and Vecchia's Gaussian process approximation. He leads the development of the GpGp R package, a tool for efficient Gaussian process modeling. Teaching includes statistical computation and linear models at various levels.
