Professor Joe Barcroft holds the rank of Professor in Spanish and Second Language Acquisition at Washington University in St. Louis, with an affiliate appointment in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences. He serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies in Spanish, Director of the Summer Language Institute in Madrid, and Madrid Study Abroad Advisor. His academic background includes a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Research interests focus on second language acquisition (SLA), particularly vocabulary learning and input processing. Specific areas include the effects of acoustic variability, bilingual mental lexicon dynamics, and psycholinguistic approaches to SLA.
