Joe Arvai is the Dana and David Dornsife Chair and Professor of Psychology at the University of Southern California (USC), directing the Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies within the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. His research focuses on improving decision-making under risk and uncertainty, with applications to environmental policy and sustainable enterprise. Arvai holds a Ph.D. in Judgment and Decision-Making from the University of British Columbia (2001) and completed postdoctoral training at Decision Research in Oregon.
His work bridges psychology, environmental science, and public policy, addressing topics like risk perception, climate change communication, and corporate social responsibility. Recent studies explore the impact of fake news on climate attitudes, generational differences in environmental concern, and the design of legitimate science advisory boards.
