Dr. Jock McOrist is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at the University of New England's School of Science and Technology. Educated at the University of Sydney (B.Sc., M.Sc.), University of Chicago (M.S., Ph.D.), he completed postdoctoral work at Cambridge. His research explores mathematical physics, particularly string theory and quantum field theory applications in differential geometry.
He supervises PhD students in physics and mathematics, focusing on heterotic string vacua and quantum field theory. His recent publications (2017-2025) consistently investigate moduli spaces in string theory, geometric structures in quantum field theories, and heterotic compactifications.
