Jocelyn Létourneau is a Professor in the Department of History at Université Laval, where he holds the Canada Research Chair in Contemporary Political History and Economy in Quebec. He is affiliated with CELAT (Centre interuniversitaire d'études sur les lettres, les arts et les traditions) and has been a Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton (1997-1998) and the Zentrum für interdisziplinäre Forschung at Bielefeld University (1994-1995). He was elected to the Academy of Arts, Humanities and Sciences of Canada in 2004 and serves on advisory committees for scholarly journals.
His research focuses on 20th-century Quebec, historical consciousness, identity formation in complex societies, and the role of history in public discourse. He has published extensively on these topics, including award-winning works like Passer à l'avenir (2000) and Le Québec, les Québécois (2004).
Recent publications such as Que veulent vraiment les Québécois? (2006) examine Quebec's evolving national identity and historical memory. His scholarship bridges academic rigor with public engagement, often addressing debates on history, memory, and urban (re)construction.
