Jocelyn Breton is an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at Smith College, where she investigates how early life adversity affects reward processing, motivation, and social behavior. Her lab employs behavioral, physiological, neuroanatomical, and molecular techniques in rodent models to explore individual differences in resilience and susceptibility to early stressors, aiming to uncover mechanisms linking childhood trauma to mental illness risk.
- Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley
- B.A., Middlebury College
Her research bridges developmental neuroscience and mental health, with a focus on preventing adversity-related psychiatric disorders. She teaches and mentors students at Smith, fostering collaborative, curiosity-driven learning. Outside academia, she enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, rock climbing, and skiing, as well as board games and time with her cats, Lila and Lewey.
