Joaquin Maria Fernandez Leiceaga

Joaquin Maria Fernandez Leiceaga is a Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences, University of Santiago de Compostela. He earned his PhD in 1990 with a thesis analyzing foreign direct investment impacts on peripheral economies.

His research examines transnational capital flows, labor market transformations, and regional development disparities. He received the Galician Critics' Prize for Research in 1994 for his contributions to economic scholarship.

Beyond academia, he has held significant political roles including President of PSdeG-PSOE and Senator, demonstrating interdisciplinary engagement with policy implementation.
