Joanne Rathbone is a Research Fellow at the School of Medicine and Psychology, Australian National University (ANU), and Academic Lead for the ACT Wellbeing Framework project. She holds a PhD in Social Psychology (University of Queensland, 2021) and a BPsychSc(Hons). Her research focuses on social determinants of mental and physical health, particularly stigma, social identities, and intergroup relations. Key interests include weight stigma in healthcare, social anxiety interventions, and the psychological impacts of group membership.

Research Interests: Social identity dynamics, intergroup relations, health stigma, and interventions to improve mental health through social connectedness. She has led projects such as the 'Inclusive fitness environments research partnership' (2023), addressing decision-making in fitness spaces.
