Dr. Joanne Lidster is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and currently serves as the Head of the School of Health and Social Care at Sheffield Hallam University. She is a registered nurse with extensive experience in senior management, strategic leadership, and quality assurance in health and social care education. Her leadership role involves overseeing educational and research activities for 14 different professional registration programs, as well as supporting continuing professional development for practitioners.

Research Focus
Joanne's research centers on health and social care workforce education, e-learning technologies, and innovative approaches to practice-based learning. Her work explores qualitative methodologies, particularly Grounded Theory and 'insider' research, to understand staff transitions and the evolving healthcare landscape.
Publications
Her recent work includes studies on physiotherapist-led health promotion for cardiovascular disease in Cameroon, institutional leadership challenges in healthcare education, and evidence-based approaches to clinical supervision in nursing. The 2025 articles examine qualitative and mixed-methods perspectives on healthcare delivery in developing contexts.
