Joanna Knitter-Posiewnik

Joanna Knitter-Posiewnik is a Lecturer at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where she teaches within Department IV – Choral Conducting, Church Music, Artistic Education, Rhythmics and Jazz. Her specific focus is on Jazz and Pop Music instruction, covering courses in jazz singing, jazz improvisation, and song interpretation.

As a versatile vocalist, Knitter-Posiewnik maintains an active dual career in both music education and professional performance. Her artistic interests span multiple genres including jazz, pop, blues, and folk music, with particular expertise in vocal techniques and musical interpretation across these diverse styles.

Knitter-Posiewnik is prominently associated with Przemek Dyakowski's swing band 'Take It Easy,' with whom she has released five albums including 'Ach, to był szał' (2020). She also leads her own 'Blues & Folk Connection' project, which released its third album 'Aretha' in late 2020. Additionally, she serves as a soloist with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic in Sopot under Wojciech Rajski, with recordings including 'The Sound of Christmas' (Universal Music Polska) and 'Piosenki Warsa i Szpilmana' (Polish Radio).

Her extensive performance career includes 13 released albums featuring her own compositions and lyrics, with international touring across Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland. She has performed at major festivals including Rawa Blues Festival (Poland), Gevarenwinkel Blues & Roots Festival (Belgium), Rockabilly Day (Netherlands), Baltic Music Festival (Sweden), Summer Jazz Festival in Kraków, Sopot Jazz Festival, Jazz in the Forest, and Blues Alive (Czech Republic).

Knitter-Posiewnik also collaborates with the Jan Konop Big-Band and composer Leszek Kułakowski, notably on the 2017 album 'Love Songs.' Her professional activities demonstrate a strong integration of academic teaching with active performance and recording work across multiple musical genres.
