Joan Solé-Pla

Joan Solé-Pla serves as a full Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Girona's Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences, with cross-disciplinary teaching responsibilities spanning Tourism, Education and Psychology, Law, and Economics faculties.

Professor Solé-Pla specializes in social network analysis applied to tourism development, organizational innovation, and gender inequality frameworks. His research integrates economic modeling with sociological perspectives on heritage management and regional development, particularly examining Spanish and global economic systems through network theory lenses. Current projects explore digital transformation in tourism ecosystems and gender-disaggregated economic impacts.

He has received the Doctor Europeus distinction (2012), awarded for doctoral theses meeting rigorous international standards including multilingual examination and international committee review.

Teaching encompasses Cultural Heritage Management, Fundamentals of the Economy, and Spanish and World Economy across multiple faculties.
