Joan Feigenbaum is the Grace Murray Hopper Professor of Computer Science at Yale University, with a joint appointment in Economics. She holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University. Her career includes significant contributions to AT&T's Information Sciences Research Center, where she pioneered research in algorithmics for massive datasets.
Her research focuses on cybersecurity, privacy-preserving technologies, computational complexity, and the intersection of economics and computation. She has developed influential algorithms for network data analysis and incentive-compatible distributed systems. Feigenbaum has also led efforts in accountable computing, privacy frameworks, and blockchain governance.
