Joachim Posegga

Prof. Dr. Joachim Posegga serves as Professor and head of the IT-Security Group at the University of Passau's Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics since April 2008. Previously, he founded and led the Security in Distributed Systems (SVS) Group at the University of Hamburg from 2003. His career bridges academia and industry, including leadership of SAP Corporate Research's Security Research Program and security work at Deutsche Telekom Research (1995-2000).

His research spans IT Security, Cybersecurity, and Distributed Systems Security with emphasis on practical implementations. Early academic appointments included positions at Karlsruhe, Edinburgh, and Kaiserslautern universities, establishing foundational expertise before his industry tenure.

The IT-Security Group he directs focuses on bridging theoretical security frameworks with real-world computing systems. His work integrates academic rigor with industry-scale security challenges, particularly in distributed environments.
