Jo-Anne Dillabough is Professor of Sociology, Sociology of Education, and Sociology of Young People and Global Cultures at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge. She holds a PhD from McGill University and serves as Deputy Director of Research (Education) and ESRC LEAD PI for the Universities and Crises project.
Her research examines youth cultures in global cities, transnational urban change, higher education in conflict zones, and sociologies of displacement. She uses ethnographic and visual methodologies to study inequalities, particularly in relation to colonial legacies.
Her publications focus on political crises in higher education, youth activism under authoritarian regimes, and post-colonial scholarship. As co-editor of Gender and Education, she advances feminist approaches to citizenship and social justice.
