Jixing Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Translation and the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at City University of Hong Kong. Previously, he held a postdoctoral position at NYU Abu Dhabi's Neurolinguistics Lab under Liina Pylkkänen. He earned his Ph.D. in Linguistics from Cornell University in 2018, with a thesis focusing on computational modeling of pronoun resolution during naturalistic fMRI experiments.
His research integrates neuroimaging and computational models to explore how the brain processes syntax, semantics, and reference in language comprehension. Key contributions include cross-linguistic fMRI studies on pronoun resolution, semantic number processing, and the development of the Le Petit Prince multilingual corpus. He has received awards such as the CNS Postdoctoral Fellow Award (2019) and SNL Travel Awards (2017–2018).
Teaching responsibilities include courses like Computational Linguistics (LT3233) and Language and Its Applications (LT5903). He has also mentored workshops and presented invited talks globally, including at Stanford, Princeton, and the Max Planck Institute.
