Jitendra Tayal is the Hughes Associate Professor of Finance at the College of Business, Ohio University. His research focuses on empirical investments, market efficiency, short selling, behavioral finance, and options markets. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Virginia Tech (2016), a Master’s in Financial Engineering from IFMR (2011), and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur (2007).
His research explores topics such as investor perceptions during earnings announcements, short-sale constraints, and the predictability of stock returns through intraday trading patterns. He has published in top journals like the Journal of Financial Economics and Financial Management. His work often examines how market microstructure and investor behavior influence asset pricing and market efficiency.
- Awards: Rising Star Award (2021), Senior Class Finance Teacher of the Year (2021), multiple College of Business Excellence awards (2019–2021), and the Ellsworth Holden Finance Faculty Award (2019).
- Grants: College of Business Research Seed Grant (2020), AFA Travel Grant (2014), and Sorensen Fellowships (2011–2012).
Before academia, he worked in exotic derivatives at Credit Suisse and as an operations executive at Godrej Group. His research team collaborates closely with industry peers to bridge theoretical and applied finance.
