Jingyi Jenny Zhao is a Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with Clare Hall and the Needham Research Institute. Her research bridges ancient Greek and early Chinese philosophy, focusing on comparative ethics, moral psychology, and cross-cultural reception. She co-edited Ancient Greece and China Compared (Cambridge University Press, 2018) and authored Aristotle and Xunzi on Shame, Moral Education, and the Good Life (Oxford University Press, 2024).
Her work examines shame as a moral emotion across civilizations, analyzing educational frameworks in Aristotle and Xunzi. Publications explore childhood in premodern China and methodological challenges in cross-cultural comparisons. Outreach includes public engagement on classical traditions and a children's book, Adventures with the Ancients. Dr. Zhao participates in global conferences on philosophy and classical reception.
