Jing Shuang Li is an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan's College of Engineering, with joint affiliation at the Michigan Neuroscience Institute. Her research bridges control theory and neuroscience using approaches from optimal control and dynamical systems.
Research focuses on two interconnected themes: (1) Control of large-scale systems under communication constraints, developing theory for distributed coordination with optimality guarantees; (2) Neuroscience modeling using control theory frameworks to understand sensorimotor behavior and neural implementations of control.
Recent articles demonstrate consistent focus on optimal control frameworks applied to both engineered and biological systems, particularly exploring sensorimotor control, distributed algorithms, and neural implementations of control strategies.
Develops computational tools including SLS-MATLAB and SLS-Python for system-level controller synthesis. Research group investigates fundamental principles of control across biological and engineered systems.
