Jing Gao is an Associate Professor at the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University. Previously, she held an Associate Professor position at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University at Buffalo. She earned her PhD from the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research focuses on data and information analysis, particularly in data mining, information veracity, crowdsourcing, and knowledge graphs, with applications in healthcare, social science, transportation, cybersecurity, and education.
Dr. Gao has received prestigious awards including the NSF CAREER Award and the ICDM Tao Li Award. She actively contributes to academic leadership roles, serving as an editor for ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology and holding senior program committee positions in top data mining conferences. She has advised numerous PhD students who have secured positions at institutions like Penn State, Iowa State University, and industry labs such as Google Research and Alibaba DAMO Academy.
Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary applications of data science, blending foundational research with practical solutions across diverse domains.
