Jimmy Guilinger, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Environmental Science at California State University, Monterey Bay’s College of Science. His research focuses on earth surface processes and hydrogeomorphic impacts of landscape disturbances, particularly in California.
- Ph.D. in Environmental Science, University of California, Riverside (2021)
- M.S. in Geology, Idaho State University (2017)
- B.S. in Geoscience, Boise State University (2014)
Guilinger’s expertise includes geomorphology, watershed hydrology, lidar, UAV photogrammetry, and geospatial analysis. He investigates post-wildfire sediment cascades, deep-seated landslides, coastal retreat, and watershed trends (e.g., Carmel River San Clemente Dam Removal). He teaches courses in geology, hydrology, geomorphic systems, and watershed management at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
