Jimmy Engren is a Senior Lecturer in History at Örebro University's School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. His work focuses on migration history, cultural encounters, and labor history during the 19th and 20th centuries, with special interest in North American and European contexts.

Research explores migration through class, gender, and ethnicity lenses, including Swedish urban migrants' Americanization and cross-continental comparisons of migration narratives. His "My Historical Backpack" project (2016-2023) examined students' historical narratives and meaning-making processes.
Teaching includes chronological history courses, migration-focused thematic courses, and history didactics. Engren serves on the boards of Arkivcentrum Örebro and Örebro County Local History Society, while participating in research groups like "Narration, Life and Meaning" and "Teaching and Learning in the Humanities".
