Jimmy A. Reyes, Ph.D., DNP, AGNP, RN, FRE, serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing & Public Health at the University of Northern Iowa's College of Social & Behavioral Sciences. With a clinical and research focus on gerontology, diabetes management, and healthcare disparities among underserved populations, he integrates community-based practices into nursing education.

His pedagogical approach emphasizes experiential learning through clinical rotations, community projects, and international study abroad programs in Costa Rica and Ecuador. These initiatives cultivate cultural humility and patient-centered care among nursing students.
Reyes actively advocates for healthcare equity and lifelong learning in nursing, driven by his grandmother’s legacy as a public health nurse and his mentorship from colleagues. He contributes to shaping UNI's new prelicensure BSN program with innovative, evidence-based methods.
