Jimmie Lawson is a Boyd Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Louisiana State University. He previously served as Department Chair (1990-1992), Graduate Council member (2001-2005), and chaired the Committee on Graduate Education Administration (2005).
His research spans topological algebra, Lie theory, geometric control theory, continuous lattices, and symmetric spaces. These interconnected areas explore algebraic structures with topological properties, group symmetries, and geometric applications.
